On the day of Christ crucifixion, disciples were emotionally down, discouraged on what happened to their teacher—he was killed. So much hope they had in their hearts towards God's kingdom being revealed to the humanity, was gone now. At that day, it was not only a spiritual battle for Christ, it was a spiritual battle for his followers. This happened because God had a plan. It was a disaster, looking at Christ on the cross. He was humiliated before the crowed. Isaiah says, "one from whom men hid their face... Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers" (53:3-7). This was before the disciples eyes. Peter, sneaked to the area where Jesus was tortured, became fearful. Looking at how Jesus was torture, he denied any association with Jesus – this was not a pleasant moment in disciples life. I just wonder what was the impression of those faces that evening. What was the evening conversation before they went to sleep.
Today, we are not better then these disciples. To quick to jump to conclusions, to quick to give a theological answer to those who suffer, to what is going on in this world. By our limited mind, we are able to react negatively or positively depends what we face in life. But once again, we are left with just our mind, the world that is based on our thinking.
Peter, the person who denied Christ three times before Jesus crucifixion, said these word later on in life:
Today, we are faced with different challenges in our life. Our reaction to situations varies. Most of the time, people put our head down and think, why can my situation be different. The answer is simple, just as disciples were not in charge of the situation on the death of Christ, so we are also. God has a plan. It is bigger then what we can see right now, but at the end, it will all make sense.

"... for truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place" (Acts 4:27–28).Peter acknowledged the plan of God in Christ death. He said the people that killed Jesus were anointed by God to do so: "whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the people of Israel." Another words, these people were doing what God wanted them to do. Peter also says, Christ dead was your plan (referring to God): "to do whatever your hand and your plan had predestined to take place." This truth was closed to disciples mind on the day of crucifixion. What emotions, what conversations took place we don't know, but God's plan accomplished.
